My Dream Girl

July 3rd, 2006 | 1 Comment | Posted in @Personal

Before I begin, a brief background of the kind of guy I am. I’m the type who feels a lot but speaks little. I have problem expressing myself verbally but no problem blogging about it :P

My love language is words of affirmation. Whatever people said to me matters a lot. A sincere compliment will make my day. A passing negative remark will hurt me for weeks. If you want to know more about love languages, go read the book ‘5 Love Languages‘ by Dr. Gary Chapman. No, I don’t get any commission from the sale of said book.

Now, on to my dream girl. To borrow a quote from my dear cousin, this is my ‘dream’ girl. I may not get a girl like that in reality. Just like the girls will not be marrying Orlando Bloom or Brandon Routh any time soon. It’s a dream. Let me dream.

Here’s my list:

  1. She must know my love language.
  2. Should be supportive of me but yet knows when to correct me.
  3. Not sticky or clingy but allows me to have my guys night out.
  4. Loves all kinds of food especially italian food.
  5. Knows the difference between wine and grape juice.
  6. A geek at heart.
  7. Plays computer games like RPG, MMO etc.
  8. Loves all kinds of movies and not just romantic ones.
  9. Open minded and level headed.
  10. Knows when to leave me alone and let me brood.
  11. Shares the same convictions as I do about how to raise kids.
  12. Not a compulsive shopper but a shop-when-necessary and shop-quickly kind of woman.
  13. Will not ask me weird questions like “Do you love me?” and “If you love me, why don’t you …”
  14. A firm believer of ‘Your money is my money and my money is your money.”
  15. Be secure in my love for her.
  16. Submissive to my final decision if it’s not a wrong decision.
  17. Never ridicule me in front of others but always respect me.
  18. Knows how to do things like filling up forms, applying for services etc. by herself
  19. Never ask me to choose what she should be wearing. Whichever I choose, she’ll pick the other one anyway.
  20. And finally the most important of all, loves me for who I am and not who she wants me to be.

There’s my list. If I were to follow strictly to this list, I’ll be a confirmed bachelor for life. I do have self awareness. I am not exactly a hot movie star or Mr. Universe. But it’s nice to dream once in a while.

I will miss her

She loves roses.

She loves roses.

Grandma passed on on 19 June 2006. She has returned home to the Lord.

She leaves behind a loving husband, 4 devoted children, 7 grown grandchildren and 10 siblings.

Grandma has always been strong in character and a very responsible mother, grandmother and loyal friend. She will be missed by all.

Goodbye Grandma. I love you.
