5 Signs You’re Stressed Out

April 27th, 2006 | 4 Comments | Posted in @Miscellaneous

Heard this over the radio. I find it funny and at the same time relatable.

5 signs you’re stressed out:

  1. You can skip without a rope.
  2. You scream “Stop touching me!” even when you’re alone.
  3. Trees start chasing you.
  4. You start chasing trees.
  5. You’ve been queueing at the bank for hours.

After I finished laughing, I was compelled by the powers that be to compile my own list. Here’s 5 signs you’re stressed out according to Dr. Jarod:

  1. You start pulling your hair… even when you’re bald.
  2. You yelled “Move it!” at the car in front of you while you’re parked.
  3. You wanna shoot Barney the purple dinosaur (WTF is that anyway?).
  4. You try to use force lightning.
  5. “You jump I jump” no longer applies. Instead “You jump, good riddance” sounds better.

Feel free to share your list.

Everybody is exercising!

Everyone around me suddenly seem to have caught the fitness craze. Recently a lot of fitness centers are sprouting everywhere in the Klang Valley. We have Clark Hatch, Fitness First, Sweat Club, California Fitness and the new True Fitness. We also have the not-so-well known like Les Studios, Gold’s Gym KL and Techno Flex Fitness Club. Of course we have plenty of the not-worth-mentioning fitness clubs too.

A lot of my friends became fitness conscious recently and a lot of them having been signing up with various fitness centers. As for me, I joined Fitness First at USJ. I started out with zeal, setting goals and a schedule for myself. I know it would not be easy but I was determined to get fat. Yup, you heard it right. F-A-T. Fat. I wanted to gain weight and tone my body. So I signed up for personal training.

My trainer Kee is a pretty nice guy… when he’s not training me. Otherwise, he’s the drill sarjan from hell. After the first training session I was convinced that I’ve been to hell and back. The second session felt like a train just ran over me. The third session had me dread getting out of bed and entering the gym. By the fourth session, it was bearable. The fifth session was a lot better. Maybe because it was also the last session. But, it does make a difference to my body. I felt more alive, more energetic and vibrant. By the way, I’ve gained 5kg. 5 more to go. 65kg is my ideal weight. At least that’s what the doctor told me.

Gym is not a club house. You need discipline, motivation and determination. Every other day I had to make a conscious effort to drive to gym after work. I haven’t got the will power to wake up early for gym yet. But I’m working on it. I should be able to muster up enough will power by 2020. Now that I have gained some weight, my next immediate goal is to get my six pack. Right now my six pack are all-in-one.

Anyway, after seeing this picture posted at the gym, I’m convinced fitness is for everybody.

I really pity this guy.

He’s trying to start a new start-up creating a new MMOG but he obviously has no experience nor exposure to either. He posted his recruitment drive on the Malaysian chapter of IGDA and has been bombarded with questions and ridiculement. He even made it to the thedailywtf.com

Worst is that he’s refusing/ignoring the advices given and still persist on continuing with his own methods. He hosted his website on geocities. I wonder if he realised the kind of credibility he’s portraying to readers.

Unsung Heroes

Garbage Collectors

I just moved to a new apartment recently and tenants are required to throw their garbage in a designated area away from the apartment units. I really dread the hassle of taking the smelly bags 7 floor down and walk something like half a mile to throw them bags. Ok, it’s actually a few metres away but it seemed further when you’re taking the garbage.

Then I saw these people. Day in and day out, they go to people’s houses to collect their rubbish and dispose of them. Right here in the picture, my car is just behind them while they make a quick stop to collect the garbage. I can see it’s not an easy job nor it is the most pleasant one. The guy on the right even made effort to pick up and small little bits that fell off the truck. These are the society heroes no one spoke about. In fact, their job is usually used to frightened little children to study harder. “If you don’t study harder you’ll end up being a garbage collector!”. That’s what my mum used to say when I was young. By the way, I’m still young. I was a lot younger then…

Honestly I don’t see what’s wrong with their occupation. Yes, it’s a dirty job but someone’s gotta do it. Without them, we’ll all be buried under tons of our own rubbish. These people should get more recognition. I have a new respect for these people.
