Shark-branded Car

Caught this car outside my office this morning. Written on the side is Cap Jerung which means Shark Brand in Malay. Quite a catchy color and definitely a good advertising medium. Wherever this car goes or park, people will sure be curious enough to stop and look.

Done within 48 hours

I had problems with my broadband connection the other day. I called up the help center and after going through some diagnostic checks, the operator filed in a report for me. She told me that the problem will be attended to and resolved within 48 working hours. At first I thought 2 days is not too long so I said ok. Then later I read on some local tech forum, someone faced the same problem as I am and his problem was not resolved in 2 days. When he called up the help center again to inquire, he was reminded again that it is 48 working hours! 1 working day consists of 8 working hours. So 48 working hours would mean 6 working days excluding weekends! OMG!!!

It never fails to amuse me the incompetency of some service companies. In this case, they even try to cover it up by saying it will be done within 48 working hours. Most people (like me), would have assume it meant 48 hours. However, the operative word here is ‘working’. This is a sad reflection of the type of customer service that we have to bear here. Sigh…

Windows Vista in November 2006

So Windows Vista will be launched officially in November 2006. I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of it. I’ve already planned my PC upgrade to meet the recommended specifications required to run Vista (provided I don’t blow my budget between now and October). But then again, given Microsoft’s track record, I think I’ll wait for Vista SP2 before getting it. Call me a pessimist but I call it experience.

Trees Cleared

Trees cleared.

All chopped up.

In my previous post, I posted that a tree fell over my neighbour’s car and blocked the entrance of the house opposite his. The same day, the municipal council came and cleared it. The tree is chopped up and left there. Why didn’t the council remove it? Are we suppose to make firewood out of it? I can give them credit for promptly cutting the tree up but I have no clue why they would just leave it there. By the way, the car has been towed away, probably awaiting response from the insurance company.

Wrath of Nature

Tree fell over car.
Yesterday’s storm fell quite a number of trees. One of the trees fell over my neighbour’s car. The entire road is blocked and the entrance of the neighbour opposite him is blocked too. The car’s windshield and car engine is smashed. I wonder is the insurance covers this kind of damage. Or is this categorised as an act of God.
